What was that about more frequent shorter posts...?

I finally realized, it is NOT too late to pick this back up. To catch up I'll include a few highlights...and then a few pics.

SEPTEMBER - Hot, muggy, nauseatingly pregnant, settling into the work routine. Ted attended a conference in Shanghai.

OCTOBER - Barbie was our last minute "medical professional" for a 8th grade trip to Rishikesh where she whitewater rafted the Ganges and tented at the base of the Himalayan Mtns. Then we took her on a whirlwind tour of Delhi: visited historical sites, purchased all the nice comforters and rugs.  Then to Nepal where we paraglided and trekked in Pokhara. Sightseeing in Kathmandu.

NOVEMBER - Gaya and I piloted a volunteer mission for the school in Guwahati for Operation Smile. During this trip our students entertained kids/patients who were pre/post-op cleft lip/palate repair. Thanksgiving long weekend trip to the bird sanctuary in Bharatpur and to the Taj Mahal in Agra. Camel and elephant rides are normal for birthday parties. POTTY-Trained at 2.5 years.

(You're there too Scout, 5 months)

DECEMBER - BALI beach vacation for 3 weeks with the Rosenfields. One week of snorkeling, one week of surfing, a few days in Kuala Lumpur, but the real highlight was Lucy learning to swim on her own (albeit for only about 10 seconds at a time).

JANUARY - We braved the harsh Delhi winter - HA. It lasted about 3 weeks, with daytime highs sometimes not breaking the 60's!  Ted braves the Delhi traffic after getting his international drivers license and learns to put his horn to use (a must here).

FEBRUARY - Full-on baby count-down begins. We were hoping for a leap year February 29th baby and tried every trick in the book to make it happen. We missed by two days!

MARCH - Welcome home Sylvia Scout Lawson.  Born in India! What an incredibly smooth experience, apart from Ted threatening to sue the hospital - a story for another time.  Twelve days later we made an offer on a Valiant 40.  We now have new motivation to get to the end of the year (and keep this blog going).

Inside...but a few hours later...

...Outside!

Happy at home

APRIL - Di-daddy visits from Duxbury. We hosted him for a week in Delhi, which included a record breaking fast trip to the Taj Mahal - Ted and Ned left Delhi at 4am and were home for lunch, having seen the Taj AND Agra Fort!

We were all ready for a break from Delhi and the heat (over 100 everyday that week) when we boarded the plane on Friday, April 6 for Thailand.  We spent a week at a resort on the island of Ko Chang, which was totally worth the 4 hr drive from the airport to a 2 hr wait for the ferry followed by another 45min drive. Totally worth it! On the way back to Bangkok we stopped in Pattaya and visited a Valiant 40, squashing any last reservations we had.
We happily closed on our new boat on April 25th.  She will be rechristened as "Momo" and her dinghy "TukTuk".

MOMO and Di-Daddy

OK. Technically that catches us up. It is hard to believe that we are 1 month away from concluding year number ONE in India. We are definitely HOME focused right now, looking forward to time with family and friends, and of course meeting and sailing Momo.

Whether you run or not....we are so excited you are with us now.

In a TukTuk

Look closely in the rear-view mirrors and you will see that we actually do live here in India.

I could write a book on August alone. I should know to keep more frequent short posts... School orientation trip to Neemrana. Men blowing fire, women dancing, but it was really the murky GREEN pool that left this trip unforgettable.

Now we live in India, on a gated and very comfortable campus. When we break out of the bubble India is a wondrous explosion of the senses.

Delhi Belly - A term commonly used to describe the typical bowel adjustment to India. A term we use to describe the human in my belly making me incredibly nauseated. Explained best by the fact that I am NOT a napper!

Sea Shipment arrived - I can't believe it wasn't lost at sea let alone lost in the mass that is India. Amazingly, every single travel-sized toothpaste and spoon arrived unscathed and then professionally unpacked at our doorstep.

Rang in my 30th birthday with a ride upon an Elephant during a long weekend trip to Jaipur. Toured City Palace where the royal family still resides. Purchased some infamous Blue pottery. Dinner at the spinning OM tower and the Rooftop Peacock.

Apple School - Lucy loves to go to this sweet little school at the American Embassy. Her teachers are all Indian but her classmates are from around the world, literally.

Dobi...Ayah - This is a song Lucy sings. A Dobi refers to the gentleman who does our laundry...and an Ayah is the woman who cooks yummy food and watches Lucy after Apple school. I feel the need to express my heavy burden of mixed feelings about hiring this work out. Mostly I miss how human it feels to provide for myself/family through the daily routines of cooking and cleaning. But, I have to remind myself that it is part of life here. There are no laundry-mats and we are providing two people with very good jobs.
